As I started out on the trail, slivers of the sun shone through the tall, almost naked trees. I peered out across the calm, stillness of the lake as it glistened in the fading warmth of the autumn sun.
My two dogs, oblivious to the magic of this all, were more interested in the smells recently left at the base of a near oak tree. 😆
Suddenly, I knew this was a special moment…. a moment that needed to be captured and remembered on film. As I took out my now obsolete iPhone 3Gs, I wondered…
Why? What made this moment any more special than the other hundred hikes I’ve had around this very same lake on this very same trail?

Most of us are waiting for someone to give us permission to live our lives. We’re waiting for someone to tell us it’s okay to be ourselves.
We’re waiting for our internal “mommy” and “daddy” to give us their metaphoric nod of approval.
Whether it’s our figurative or literal parents or any of the other prominent men and women in our lives…. so many of us are waiting for their acceptance, their agreement, and their RED Rubber Stamp of Approval in life.

Part of the reason why humans (and animals in general) survive and flourish is because they’ve learned to trust their instincts and their senses. Our ability to see, hear, taste, smell and touch allow us to gather information about the world and environment in which we have evolved. Our five senses are highly refined sensory receptors that are linked to our nervous system and hence brain.

In Part I of Rise of the Awakened Warriors, we learned that an Awakened Warrior is the integration of two archetypes… the Warrior and the Sage. These symbolic, archetypal roles lie dormant within the collective unconscious of humanity and therefore they also reside inside of you as well. They are simply waiting to be expressed!

When most people hear the term “WARRIOR” they immediately think of the very literal occupation of warriorship; in other words a soldier in the military or some type of gladiator or combat fighter comes to mind…As it probably should! 🙂

History has a strange way of repeating itself and so I find myself in a similar situation today that I’ve faced in the past. I’ve come a long way since those early days of teenage rebelliousness and angst, but I’m still not living the life I imagined for myself. Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m living a great life and am very grateful for the many blessings that have come my way.
