“Coaching and cueing proper movement is the key to successful strength & conditioning.”– Dr. Chad Waterbury⠀
I’m honored to now be a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist, CES after completing the ISSA’s Corrective Exercise Specialist Course written by Dr. Chad Waterbury. 🤘😎⠀
Prior to completing this course I’ve been studying the works of Dr. Waterbury for years. ⠀
He is a very knowledgeable trainer and #1 ranked Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and neurophysiologist. Dr. Waterbury was also the director of strength and conditioning at the Rickson Gracie International Jiu Jitsu Center in LA.
Therefore, he’s trained a wide range of athletes and martial artists over the years. 🏋️🥋🥊🏄♂️
“He who conquers himself is the mightiest warrior.”– Confucius
My motto for Awakened Warriors Training is ‘Train like a Warrior to Look like a Warrior’.
So this is what we must do! 🤘😃
That’s why I alternate my training days between ‘Awakened Warriors Training’ (AWT), which is my secret protocol of strength training methods I’ve been refining over the years…
And my ‘Mindful Martial Arts’ (MMA) days, which utilize a blend of fighting styles or mixed martial arts as both self-defense, conditioning, and cardiovascular exercise.
Put simply, I’m alternating between days of Strength (AWT) & Conditioning (MMA) training. It’s hard, yet FUN work! 🤗
“Walking is the best possible exercise. Habituate yourself to walk very far.”– Thomas Jefferson
If walking is so good for us and one of the best possible exercises for a bipedal being, than maybe we should all do more of it!
Regular walking or hiking is a good place to start, yet how can we take it to the next level and WARRIOR IT UP?
Introducing… Warrior Walks with a Weighted Vest!
This amazing strength & conditioning exercise is basically like going on a Military Forced March or “Ruck Walk“. It is designed to build: Strength, Conditioning, Endurance, Loading Capacity & Mental Toughness.
A Warrior must train his mind to ignore pain and discomfort, yet remain alert and aware to everything that is unfolding in the present moment.
“Push-ups, sit-ups, and a strict diet of raisins. That’s my plan!”– Jack Black
Alright ladies and gents, all joking aside… I had an idea to do a series of blog posts on how to make your own workout equipment! This weekend, I made some wooden push-up bars out of leftover scrap wood and thought you might like to know how to make yourself a pair.
If you plan to Unleash Your Ultimate Potential, you’ve gots to keep pushing on and pushing up!!! 😉
I’m breaking this down into 10 Easy Steps and if you follow the plan closely, by the end, you will wind up with your very own, high quality push-up bars for little to no moolah. In fact, the ones featured above cost me absolutely nothing since I had the scrap wood and all of the materials on hand.
“Victory is reserved for those who are willing to pay it’s price.”– Sun Tzu
After attending the awesome Victory Motorcycle ride this past weekend, I started to think a lot about VICTORY. Not only victory, but the high price of victory…. and I’m NOT merely referring to the cost of the sweet bikes you’ll see featured in this article…
What I’m talking ’bout is the price we have to pay to be victorious in life!
We all want to live the dream; to be successful in every aspect of our lives. We all want the beautiful, loving wife or strong, loyal husband, the luxurious home, the sweet, pimped out ride and the lean, hard physique of an awakened warrior or goddess.
We ALL want it (or some version of it)… yet only a small percentage of us will ever make it our reality!
“Wilderness is not a luxury, but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread.” – Edward Abbey
As I started out on the trail, slivers of the sun shone through the tall, almost naked trees. I peered out across the calm, stillness of the lake as it glistened in the fading warmth of the autumn sun.
My two dogs, oblivious to the magic of this all, were more interested in the smells recently left at the base of a near oak tree. 😆
Suddenly, I knew this was a special moment…. a moment that needed to be captured and remembered on film. As I took out my now obsolete iPhone 3Gs, I wondered…
Why? What made this moment any more special than the other hundred hikes I’ve had around this very same lake on this very same trail?
“Body mind masters take an easy, relaxed, progressive approach while working within the higher reaches of their comfort zone, thereby avoiding the burnout that accompanies a stressful approach to training.” – Dan Millman
If there is one thing I wish I would have known when first starting out on my quest to attain a warrior’s physique… it would have been the secret of how to build muscle without killing yourself in the process! 😯
When you’re young you can get away with all types of brutal training and seemingly bounce back unscathed, yet in the end it will catch up with you. Therefore, I don’t recommend pushing yourself to the extreme and killing yourself in the gym. Instead, I suggest a more enlightened approach.
“Given enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is the true warrior who can master both and surpass the result.” – T’ien T’ai
So you’re interested in Warrior Training and developing the strength, courage and awe-inspiring physique of an Awakened Warrior! Good for you, my friend (and I sincerely mean that.)
In a world where “Most People” are slurping down super-sized, sugary soda drinks, wolfing down greasy, artery-clogging, factory-farmed beef burgers and spending most of their waking hours sitting on the couch watching TV or playing videos games; you’re aspiring to achieve excellence by mastering your body and your mind.
Like a true warrior you’re seeking the challenge of overcoming weakness, laziness, and fear of pain or death. You’re seeking something more for your life. Something greater. A path with heart, purpose and meaning.
